An Office Space Now Accessible For All

Fisherman’s Co-operative, Fremantle WA

Artira Wheelchair Platform Lift

The Brief

Wheelchair access was required for an upper-level office inside the landmark Fisherman’s Co-operative building in Fremantle, WA. At the time, the only way to reach the office was via a staircase that came in from street level.

P. R. King & Sons carried out a site assessment and needs analysis, and subsequently recommended an Artira Wheelchair Platform Lift with a custom rail for the existing staircase. This was done in order to create greater aesthetic unity inside the building. Furthermore, the architect’s specification required the lift also be matte black in keeping with the new office colour code.

The Artira is a BCA compliant inclined platform lift that has the ability to provide wheelchair access up to seven landings on straight or curved stairs. This made it ideal for this project, as the staircase featured almost 25 steps and a landing mid-way up.
